We asked Mathias about his strategies for success, and he shared some valuable insights that can not only inspire other salespeople, but also provide insight into how a positive mindset and continuous training can lead to excellent sales performance.

Mathias, what are some specific strategies or approaches you have adopted to excel in your sales performance this month?

Mathias shares an important key to his success, if not the most important key to his success: a positive attitude. He noted that positivity subconsciously reflected in his intonation, body language and confidence during conversations with customers. Thus, he highlights the crucial role of mental preparation and mindset in the sales process. How you present yourself and how you feel directly influences customers' response.

The role of GR Solutions

Mathias points out the importance of team training. Every Monday morning, the team comes together for a meeting where feedback is given on pitch, speaking style and storytelling. This ongoing training has helped Mathias and his colleagues continue to grow as salespeople. Training and self-reflection are the building blocks of progress.

What advice would you give to other salespeople who want to improve their performance and also become "Salesperson of the Month"?

Mathias stresses the importance of learning from others. He advises other salespeople to pay attention to what their colleagues are doing right or wrong. Observation and reflection are valuable traits to improve personal skills. Through the feedback received by others, we can evaluate and improve our own sales skills.

For Mathias, the recognition as "Vendor of the Month" is an affirmation of his commitment. But he stresses that this is just the beginning. How have you managed to strike a balance between addressing customer needs and achieving your sales goals?

Mathias puts customer satisfaction first. He stresses that he would never recommend customers anything that he would not introduce to his own family. For him, it is important to really help customers, not simply "sell" something. His approach is to offer customers the best possible solution, even if that means sometimes foregoing the sale.

Mathias shares that the value of storytelling during the training has struck him the most. The ability to tell a story that clarifies how a product or service can solve a problem is a technique he uses often and finds effective. It enables him to persuade customers in an indirect but understandable way.

Can you share a moment when you experienced how your approach as a salesperson had a positive impact on a customer and how that inspired you?

Mathias shares an inspiring story about a customer who made huge savings on her energy bill thanks to the solution he offered. The customer was previously paying €300 a month for electricity, but because of Mathias' help, her bill was only €26 in September. Success stories like this are what drive Mathias' motivation to keep going and help others.
